In this sermon, Rev. Debbie Sperry relates the story of Hagar and Ishmael (and by extension, Abraham and Sarah), as found in the book of Genesis (21:8-21). She describes the story as a messy one – one that forces us to confront the imperfections in the people of the Bible, and possibly find them more relatable to our own.
Rev. Sperry is an elder in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
